At £1 a bet a Trixie costs £4. Each-way doubles the bets to 8, so £1 each-way costs £8. The place part pays a fraction of the odds, usually 1/4 or 1/5, for each selection that wins or is placed.

£8: £4 for the win bets and £4 for the place bets. At 50p each-way it costs £4; at 10p each-way, £0.80.
What is the difference between a Trixie and a Patent?
Both use 3 selections. A Patent is a Trixie plus 3 singles: 7 bets against 4. The singles mean one winner still returns something, at the cost of 3 more stakes.
Does a Trixie improve my chances of winning?
